Why do there are blank pixels with output compress mosaic?

Hi Community,

I might be incorrect, but the compressed output produces blank pixels when I attempt to open it in QGIS, is there something I can do different to avoid this?

Hi Josiah,

I would be happy to help with this question. The "blank pixels" are not an issue with the compression. Since the overall values are compressed to a smaller range, some of the pixels are getting a value of zero (which is normal due to the compression). However, when you load the compress mosaic in QGIS (or other GIS software), zero is automatically set to no data value. Therefore, it creates “blank pixels”. If you want to display those pixels correctly, you need to remove the zero as no data in QGIS. All you need to do is open the property window of the layer and in the transparency section, uncheck the No data value checkbox (see attachment). This will display the mosaic correctly.
